I want my art to convey a sense of surprise and wonder that I feel to be here in this human body in this universe at this present time. The marvelous that lurks beneath the ordinary, the planes and lines of the face have become my battleground where the subtle slugs it out with the obvious.

In this I have chosen pastels which can convey the texture of human skin and the shapes of organic form combined with gouache paint which goes on so smooth and lovely and for it's translucent colours. I'd guess you'd call me a primative if you'd call me anything and I'm interested in the essences of things rather than a strictly recording them as they are. I count on my sheer enthusiasm for art to compensate any lack of technique and I take pride in my colourful naivete.
